We will transport you from Kodiak City to our remote lodge in Port Lions on Sunday Afternoon and will return you to Kodiak City in time for an early afternoon flight departure.  Guests who are coming from the Midwest or eastern part of the US may need to arrive in Kodiak Town on Saturday and spend the night in Kodiak City.  Because of weather, daylight, and safety issues, we strongly recommend guests schedule an afternoon flight out of Kodiak City.  Guests who schedule an early morning flight out of Kodiak will need to spend the night prior to flight in Kodiak.

If overnight lodging is required, Best Western Kodiak Inn can help you with reservations and special rates for Wilderness Beach Lodge guests are available.

Weather:  In the land of the midnight sun, daytime highs will be in the upper 50s to low 60s during the summer months.  Remember, most of the time you will be on the water and the water temperature is in the low 50s.  Kodiak Island earns its’ nickname, “The Emerald Island” because of frequent rain showers.  Our three boats have heated cabins, so you will be able to warm up and dry off, if necessary.

What to Bring:  Essentials are a good waterproof rain suit and waterproof footwear (Gortex is ideal).  You will want to pack layered clothing, including long johns, polar fleece, a neck gaiter, and gloves.  Also in the essential category should be a pair of wraparound sunglasses.  If you wish to fish in the streams, you should bring your waders and perhaps your fly rod.  There is a washing machine and dryer at the lodge for your use.

Luggage:  We strongly recommend that each guest limit their check-in luggage to one large bag.  Check with your airline regarding checked baggage fees and weight restrictions.

What to Expect:  Once at the Lodge, you will have a chance to unpack, get your fishing licenses, explore the lodge and village.  Your fishing days will begin with a good breakfast at 7:00 a.m.  We leave for the harbor at 8:00 and fish the entire day.  Appetizers are served at 6:00 p.m. with Supper at  7:00 p.m.  We have land line telephone service, satellite wireless internet and television, game room, and ATVs are available for your use in the evening.
