Boats

At present, the lodge operates two Coast Guard approved charter boats and both are safe, comfortable and have cabins with head facilities and plenty of room for guests to relax and enjoy the ride to the fishing grounds.

In June of 2007, we started using our new 30’ aluminum boat, the Irish Lord. This North River boat was built to our specifications and we are very pleased with its mechanical performance and also its fish ability. The two 250 horse power outboard motors give this boat plenty of speed.

The Irish Lord has a comfortable cabin that seats six people very comfortably, and a fully enclosed private restroom. In the autumn of 2007, our new custom-built Maxweld

Aluminum Catamaran, the M/V Quicksilver, will be delivered. Twin 350 horse power turbo diesel motors power this vessel, enabling her to reach distant fishing grounds with minimum travel time. At 40 ft long, it is very safe, comfortable, and anglers will appreciate the full walk-around fishing deck which allows ease in fighting fish from any position on the boat. It also has a landing-craft feature, allowing the bow to fold down for easy beach access for bank fishing and exploring. The Quicksilver has a fully enclosed heated cabin, with a complete kitchen, an enclosed private restroom, and has comfortable indoor seating for up to 10 passengers.

Our boats were custom designed to our specifications, with comprehensive and modern electronics that enable us to provide you with maximum safety, comfort, and fish ability. Each boat is equipped with Cannon electric downriggers for trolling, should the condition require.

We have custom ordered our second North River aluminum boat, a 36’er, which will be delivered in early spring of 2008.

The salmon and halibut fishing a few minutes from the lodge is some of the best in Alaska, but with our new boats, we have added more range for access and fishing in very remote areas, but always a short distance from shore.

Tackle

We have outfitted our boats with the finest high quality fishing tackle which is perfectly matched to the target species in Kodiak waters. Our salmon and halibut rods and reels are very durable and dependable but are a little on the lighter side allowing anglers to enjoy the experience of fighting the fish and not the tackle.
